I Don’t Want an Abortion But Feel I Have No Choice
You may not want an abortion.
But right now, it may feel like every other option is impossible.
You may feel trapped between what you want and what feels possible. You may know you do not want an abortion, but still feel unable to see another path because fear, practical concerns, or lack of support are closing in around you.
If that is where you are, you do not have to sort through this alone.
The Valley Care Pregnancy Centre offers free and confidential support for women and families in Kentville, the Annapolis Valley and across Nova Scotia who are facing an unexpected or difficult pregnancy decision.
You can text or call, or make an appointment to talk through what is happening and what support may be available.
You Are Allowed to Pause
When abortion feels urgent, it can be hard to think clearly.
You may feel like every direction leads to loss. You may feel afraid of continuing the pregnancy, afraid of abortion, and afraid of what will happen if you wait. When everything feels impossible, taking the time to think through your situation can feel difficult, but it can also give you confidence in what direction to turn.
Panic is not the same as clarity.
Before you make a pregnancy decision, it can help to ask honest questions, and talk with someone who will listen without shaming you, rushing you, or taking over.
At the Valley Care, you can talk through what you are facing in a private and respectful setting.
If Abortion Feels Like the Only Choice
Abortion may feel like the only option when:
-
You do not want an abortion, but every other path feels impossible
-
You feel trapped by fear, timing, finances, housing, school, work, or lack of support
-
You cannot see how continuing the pregnancy could work
-
You feel overwhelmed by practical problems
-
You feel numb, conflicted, or unable to think clearly
-
You are afraid of what will happen if you make the wrong decision
-
You need support, but do not know where to find it
These fears are real. They deserve to be heard.
You do not have to pretend this is easy. You also do not have to make a decision from panic, fear, or the feeling that you have already run out of options.
What Do You Actually Want?
Sometimes the clearest question is also the hardest one:
If the pressure, fear, and practical problems were not deciding for you, what would you want?
You may not know the answer yet. That is okay.
You may feel torn between what you want and what feels possible. You may be grieving the fact that this pregnancy is happening at a hard time. You may feel love, fear, anger, confusion, and sadness all at once.
You are not wrong for needing time, information, and support.
A support appointment at the Valley Care Pregnancy Centre can give you space to talk through questions like:
-
What do I actually want, apart from fear and panic?
-
What feels impossible right now?
-
What practical support would I need in order to breathe and think clearly?
-
What questions do I still need answered before making a decision?
-
What would I need to know if I continued the pregnancy?
-
What am I afraid will happen next?
-
Who can listen without pressuring me?
If Pressure Is Part of What Makes This Feel Impossible
Sometimes the feeling of having “no choice” comes from more than one place. It may come from fear, practical needs, lack of support, or pressure from someone else.
No one else should force, threaten, or pressure you into an abortion.
If pressure is part of what you are facing, you are allowed to ask questions and seek support before making a decision. If you are afraid someone may hurt you, or you are in immediate danger, call emergency services right away.
If you are not in immediate danger but feel trapped, isolated, or unsure what to do next, The Valley Care Pregnancy Centre can provide a confidential place to talk and help you think through safe next steps.
