Abortion Options Information
in Nova Scotia
If you are pregnant and considering abortion, you may be feeling overwhelmed, afraid, pressured, or unsure what to do next.
Maybe abortion feels like the only option because of money, housing, school, work, family pressure, relationship conflict, or fear of doing this alone. Maybe you are not sure what you want yet. Maybe someone else expects you to make a quick decision.
You deserve space to slow down, ask questions, and talk through your situation before making a decision.
The Valley Care Pregnancy Centre offers free and confidential pregnancy options information and support in Kentville, serving the Annapolis Valley and all of Nova Scotia.

Before Making an Abortion Decision
Before making a pregnancy decision, it can help to have a private place to talk through what is happening.
You may want to think about questions like:
-
Have I taken a pregnancy test?
-
Do I feel sure about this decision, or do I feel rushed?
-
Am I making this decision freely, or because someone else is pressuring me?
-
What fears are making this feel impossible?
-
What support would I need if I continued the pregnancy?
-
Have I had time to ask questions about all my options?
You do not have to sort through these questions alone. A support conversation can help you clarify what is happening, and consider what information or practical help may be useful before you decide.

If Someone Else Is Pressuring You
Some people search for abortion information because they personally want an abortion. Others search because someone else is pushing them toward that decision.
Pressure can come from a partner, parent, friend, employer, school situation, finances, housing concerns, or fear of being unsupported.
If someone has said, “You have no choice,” “You can’t have this baby,” or “I won’t support you unless you have an abortion,” it may be hard to hear your own thoughts clearly.
At the Valley Care Pregnancy Centre, you can talk with someone privately and confidentially. You will not be shamed, rushed, or pressured. You can talk about what you are afraid of, what support you have, what support you need, and what questions still need answers.
Questions to Think Through
When a pregnancy decision feels urgent, it can help to separate the decision itself from the pressures surrounding it.
You may want to ask:
-
What do I actually want?
-
Not what others expect. Not what fear is saying. What do I think and feel when I have space to breathe?
-
What is making abortion feel like the only option?
-
Money, housing, school, work, family reaction, partner pressure, or isolation can make every option feel impossible.
-
What support would change the situation?
Sometimes a decision feels impossible because the practical needs are real: transportation, food, baby supplies, housing concerns, emotional support, or help talking with family.
What information am I missing?
You may need general information about pregnancy options, abortion, parenting, adoption, or available community support before you can think clearly.
Am I safe?
If pressure includes threats, control, violence, or fear for your safety, it is important to reach out for immediate help from trusted local supports or emergency services.
Parenting Information and Practical Support
If you are wondering whether parenting is possible, we can talk through your concerns and help you identify what support may be available.
This may include conversations about practical needs, emotional support, family support, baby supplies, parenting education, community resources, and long-term support.
You do not need to have everything figured out before asking questions. It is okay to say, “I don’t know how I could do this,” and begin from there.
Adoption Information and Referrals
If you want to understand adoption as one of your options, the Valley Care Pregnancy Centre can provide general adoption information and referrals.
Asking about adoption does not mean you have made a decision. It simply means you are gathering information.
We can help you understand what kinds of questions to ask, what adoption may involve, and how to connect with appropriate adoption-related resources if you want more information.
If Someone Else Is Pressuring You
Sometimes a person searches for abortion information because someone else is pushing them toward a decision.
If a partner, parent, friend, employer, or anyone else is pressuring you, that matters. You deserve time, safety, and support.
